Expert orthopedic medical transcription

I started out in medical transcription 7 years ago and was assigned an orthopedic clinic. I found it a very interesting field and decided to become an orthopedic transcription specialist. I used websites such as emedicine.com, medscape.com and worldortho.com. to familiarize myself with the treatment of orthopedic problems. I studied musculoskeletal anatomy and diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system. I researched orthopedic tests and treatments, symptomatology and surgical procedures.

I am still with the same agency and specializing in orthopedic transcription. I transcribe for some of the top orthopedic surgeons in the country. I also have significant experience preparing independent medical evaluations for workman’s compensation purposes. I continue using Worldortho and Medscape to keep abreast of new procedures and techniques I will encounter in my work.

As a professional orthopedic transcriptionist I feel that I am ready to take on my own orthopedic accounts without relying on an agency to provide work. You will find that I am an expert orthopedic medical transcriptionist and committed to excellence. I strive to maintain 100% accuracy without blanks. I am dedicated to getting the job done by the desired deadline.

I wanted to thank you for allowing me to post my resume on this site. I graduated from a 1-year college MT program but couldn’t find a job. I had posted my resume on several sites but I liked the fact that your site used an informal format and I could show my personality a little. I also was pleased to see you took the resume from the comments section and pasted it onto the page itself.

The good news is that I got a job from your page. It took a couple of months but I got hired as an independent contractor for a small company. The hiring supervisor was wonderful and I didn’t have to take one of those impossible tests to get hired. I started 2 weeks ago and am really happy so far. I really can’t thank transcriptionology.com enough.

The transcriptionist’s job is changing. Only a few stubborn physicians are still using them – most have switched over to VR Dragon dictation. At present staff at many facilities are filing these reports in teh patients’ charts without realizing the dire need for proofreading. Times are tough for MT’s now but the field will open up once these computer generated reports cause a mistake that costs $$.

I agree with Christopher – voice recognition seems like a great idea to doctors who are always trying to save a few dollars but may end up costing them big in the long run. My job has become mostly all VR editing and believe me I correct a lot of mistakes. I shudder to think that doctors might start using VR for prescriptions.
