Is it possible to find work as a freelance medical transcriptionist? I am often asked this question and find it rather difficult to answer but I will try my best. Many transcription agencies hire on an independent contractor basis. An independent contractor is considered to be self employed. Impendent contractors are usually not held to a set schedule or time commitment by the agency and therefore are working on somewhat of a freelance basis. However, even an independent or freelance medical transcriptionist is expected to have some type of formal transcription training.

The CareerStep course provides medical transcription instruction in self-paced modules and the course price includes excellent reference materials as well as an extensive library of extensive dictation tapes. Additionally at least one major transcription agency will hire a medical transcriptionist without experience if they graduated from CareerStep.
Text writing is a good way to earn money from home.

by Lori Naumann

As I have mentioned I am an independent contractor for a transcription agency. I transcribe for several physicians, which usually provides enough dictation to keep me happy, but not always. Nothing drives me more crazy than sitting at my computer all ready to work and not enough transcription files to keep me busy. This is where text writing fits into my schedule.

For those not familiar with text writing here’s what I know about it. Text writing is another good work from home job opportunity. I love to write and text writing gives me an opportunity to write about the things I know about. Of course one of my favorite subjects is medical transcription. There are a couple of ways to earn money with text writing. You can either be paid upfront for your article or paid by the number of views your article receives. I use associatedcontent.com when I feel like writing on a random subject. Articles submitted to this site will be reviewed and then posted for views. You will be paid a set fee for each time a reader views your article.

I use textbroker.com for guaranteed income. In order to register with textbroker I had to submit a writing sample, which was then reviewed and awarded a score based on 1-5. I received a 4. I was then free to choose writing assignments rated 4 or lower from an assignment board, which lists the specifics of the assignment and what you will be paid.

It is really easy to earn money from text writing and for me it is a great way to fill time when dictation is slow. I am paid for text writing through Paypal and can request payment on a twice-monthly basis.
