i’m dee dee. i’ve been a mt for 20+ years and i still love my job. i also love to cook so having such a flexible schedule allows me the time to prepare all kinds of wonderful meals for my family. of course my salary mostly goes for extras and we could never live on what i make alone.

I too have seen my pay decline over the years but can’t find another field where I can work from home. I live in a very rural area so even commuting to the nearest WalMart means an hour each way.

It’s the truth. I was happy with the transcription company I worked for until they were taken over by ____. Now I have to account for every minute of the day that I’m supposed to be working. Of coruse there are ways to get around their spying but I still resent it.

I was a MT for 4 years and then switched to coding. The work is similar but the pay for coding is better.

When I first started in trnascription I had small children and found it very hard to get my work done. I switched to an agency that offered nighttime work and even got a higher rate of pay for shift differential.

Hi natalie! I also love the idea of meeting other home based MT’s. I’m Diana. I live in North Carolina. I have a grown daughter who lives down the street from me. I have 22 acres and 12 horses. I love transcription because it gives me the opportunity to indulge my true love, which of course is horses.

How hard is it to get hired as a medical tnoiscrrptianist working from home?I’m getting ready to start school soon and I’ve heard that once your done, it’s hard to get a job working from home if you haven’t worked in a doctor’s office first. Just wondering how hard it is to get hired on if you’re in this situation
